Wednesday thread – Day 3

Happy Wednesday! If you are participating in the September Reset Time Tracking Challenge, I hope the time tracking is going well. You might be noticing various patterns by now. Hopefully the tracking is getting easier too!

After posting here yesterday evening, I went down to the lobby of my hotel and hung out with other people at this event until our dinner at 7. We were there at the restaurant until 9, and then some of us went to a nearby bar until about 9:45. I went back to my room and read blogs and headlines for a bit, alongside getting ready for bed. I went to sleep around 10:45 or so.

I woke up at one point in the night and then got up for good at 6:45 a.m. I made coffee and woke up slowly (as in over the next 30 minutes). I got my running clothes on and was out running outside along the water at 7:20. I ran (it was a beautiful morning!) until 8:05, stopping occasionally to take pictures of the slightly changing leaves. I then bought myself a donut for breakfast. I went back to my hotel room, ate the donut, and showered and got ready to be at sessions by 9 a.m. We met until 11:40, I went to a coffee shop for an iced latte, and then was back at noon. We met again until 1:45, and then took a lunch break. A group of us walked over to a sandwich shop, and ate and then browsed at a book store until 2:45. We walked back to the hotel conference rooms for a rather random session at 3 p.m. — weaving!

Yes, there was a weaving session as part of a “different sort of creativity” vibe (this is a group of mostly writers/authors here). A weaving artist from Brooklyn taught us how to weave on these little looms. My handiwork is visible in the picture accompanying this post. We did this (and chatted shop) until 5:30, and now I am up in my hotel room posting this. I will probably do another 30 minutes of work and then relax before my dinner at 7.

As part of this time tracking challenge, I’m suggesting people think about how they want to use their weekday evenings. This isn’t a typical week for me — I wouldn’t normally have work events so many evenings — but on the other hand, there are no typical weeks. I’m thinking I might be able to read for 20-30 minutes before bed later tonight. After all, I brought a hardcover library book with me. I should make sure I get through some more of it!
