Day 2 – evening thread (September Reset Time Tracking Challenge)

I hope the tracking is going well! After posting this morning I worked on Chapter 4 of Golden Hours for 2.25 hours (9-11:15). This got me through a chapter edit and I do think I am making it better. We shall see. I’m excited to see what people are learning about their evenings! If you’re doing the September Reset Time Tracking Challenge, and visiting the survey site, you know that I’m having people brainstorm what they might do in their evenings for fun, and where that can fit. There was a “bonus” survey yesterday to help people think about ideas.

After my “deep work” I did some more shallow work for the next 45 minutes. Then I spent 30 minutes packing inefficiently (I was switching bags — I could see the plane was very small and I didn’t want to gate check my roll-aboard. So a duffel bag it was…) and eating cereal for lunch (I’m seeing that lunch is a problem in my life right now). I packed my computer but had a bit before I needed to leave, so I did my puzzle for about 30 minutes before I got in the car for the airport. I listened to the Best of Both Worlds Fall Favorites episode in the car.

The drive was about 1:15-1:45 p.m., and then it took another 10 minutes to park because the PHL parking garages were completely full. I parked on the roof deck of Garage F (basically the far edge of the world as far as PHL parking goes). Fortunately I was flying out of F but that was actually the only option. I was through security and to my gate at 2:15. I then spent the next 45 minutes working (with a quick pre-flight bathroom stop) and boarded around 3:05.

I checked messages for about 10 minutes but I’m happy to report that I then read for my very short flight to Maine (work trip). We landed around 4:45. I was out and waiting for an uber at 5. While doing so, I realized another person from my group had just landed and was in the airport so we coordinated and she met me and we shared the ride into town. My drop off was 5:35 and hers around 5:45. I checked in and now am working on a few things in my room before a work dinner at 7:00. This will be my Golden Hour activity!

I hope your day has gone well! Do you have something fun planned for tonight? What kind of leisure could you do for 30 minutes? Even if it’s a busy night you might be able to read for a bit. If you’d like to watch something, you might take a few minutes to think about what that would be, so you can anticipate the fun. I’ll check back in tomorrow. Happy tracking!
