Best of Both Worlds podcast: Making a name for yourself

Yourself

What comes up when you Google yourself? What are you known for? Within your organization, why do people seek you out?

Being known for something is a great career boosting strategy, because when people want *you* then you cannot be easily replaced.

In today’s episode of Best of Both Worlds, Sarah and I talk about making a name for yourself. How can you become known for your expertise, and how can you let people know about you?

In the Q&A we also tackle a question we know is on many people’s minds. If you’re not traveling somewhere for spring break, is there still a way to make it fun?

Please give the episode a listen, and as always we welcome ratings and reviews.

  1. Just chiming in to offer this controversial opinion that not only are freezer Thin Mints the best of the girl scout cookies, but I would argue they are the ONLY one worth eating (honorable mention to the lemon ones, but they changed and the old version was better). My mom always guaranteed an order of 10 boxes of Thin Mints to whichever neighbor got to our house first during cookie sales. I grew up thinking that you had to keep them in the freezer, since that’s the only place they lived once they made it into our house.

Also, for those who like freezer Thin Mints, try fridge/freezer York Peppermint Patties. Mediocre at room temp but EXCELLENT cold!

(also the rest of the episode was excellent as usual but I really felt compelled to weigh in on the cookie discussion!!)

    1. @KGC – oh, I know people like their cold Thin Mints! They’re perfectly tasty but I guess never an out-of-body experience for me. They were always my #1 cookie seller in my Girl Scout days…

  2. If you just search for my name “Yukun Wu” on Google, Ms. Laura Vanderkam, there will actually be quite a bit of distractions since there are other people whose names are spelled the same as mine. I suggest you search for “Yukun Wu 3D Printers” on Google instead. I’ve sent you a screenshot via email that shows some of the search results of “Yukun Wu 3D Printers” on Google.
I’m not sure if you know this, but, to avoid Google tailoring the search results to the sites that you’ve been to, you can search in Google’s Incognito mode.
Likewise, I’m not sure if you know that Google has a tool called the “Ad Preview Tool” where you can find different search results for people living in different regions on earth for the same search query.
