…from women who’ve raised their incomes. Did you go after a promotion? Take a better job? Re-enter the workforce or scale up from part-time? Ask for a raise? I’ve not had trouble finding self-employed folks who are willing to chat (for a feature piece for SELF). But I’d like a few traditionally employed people too! And if possible, outside New York. Email me at lvanderkam at yahoo dot com. Thanks!
I heard you interviewed today on CBC on “Definitely Not the Opera”. I am a 55 year old Canadian woman who re-entered the teaching profession 12 years ago at age 43 after 8 years as a stay-at-home mother. Our family income was diminished during those 8 years, and we made adjustments accordingly. Upon returning to the workforce, we have seen a marked difference in our family income, and I am happy that I have been able to achieve this for my family. Part of my job involves mentoring new teachers, and I tell them my story to encourage them if they are in the work/stay-at-home dilemma.
