The Round-up: Going “tiger mother” on your career

I had two posts over at BNET this week. The first was, I swear, the last thing I’m going to say about the “Tiger Mother.” There’s a lot of craziness about many parts of that story, but some interesting career advice, too, if you think about it. So I wrote a post called “How to go ‘tiger mother’ on your job performance.'”

Then, some good news: companies are finally thinking about hiring again. Of course, who can blame them for being a little gun shy after the recent recession? So I wrote a post called “5 signs it’s time to hire” with stories from various business owners and department heads on when they decided it was time to grow.

In other news, I’m working on a story on NYC parks, and the good things that are going on with them these days, and the role private money has played and will play in their renaissance. If you have thoughts on this (or have any connections with the parks) please let me know.

Second, the February newsletter will be out on Feb. 1. If you want to get a copy, be sure to email [email protected] to be put on the list. Thanks!

  1. Hi Laura,

As a regular follower of the blog and your bnet column, will the newsletter have additional information or will it mostly be what is published on the blog?

    Thanks
