September Reset Day 1

September Reset time tracking Day 1

Are you tracking time with me this week? If so, I hope the day has gone well! If you are reading this and haven’t written anything on your time log yet, take a few minutes to do it now. My guess is you’ll be able to remember most of the day now if you try.

Today was kind of a hectic day. I woke up at 6:15 a.m. this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep. I checked my phone at 6:30 and learned that our childcare would start a little later than usual, so I was dealing with this for a few minutes. I got in the shower at 6:45 a.m. and was dressed (+ make-up) at 7:05. I started my coffee and got the 11-year-old up around 7:08. I got his breakfast and breakfast for the 6-year-old (who was watching my computer) and then emptied the dishwasher.

At 7:25 I woke the 14-year-old and started scrambling eggs for her, me, and the 16-year-old (who I woke up at 7:30). My husband and the 11-year-old left at 7:30 for school. I took the two high schoolers (and the 6-year-old) to their school, leaving at 7:55 and back around 8:15. Due to the childcare issue, my husband came back and was officially on with the 6-year-old while I worked and set up for a 9 a.m. interview (I think he wound up taking the 6-year-old to school but I am not quite sure how that all worked).

I interviewed a guest for Before Breakfast from 9-9:35. At that point I got off and quickly got into my virtual recording set up with Sarah Hart-Unger, my Best of Both Worlds co-host. We recorded from 9:40-11:15 (two full episodes, plus an intro + Q&A for a guest episode).

I then checked email, and worked on posting Vanderhacks from 11:30-noon. I was going to keep going but my college kid called and I talked to him, and then my husband called and I talked to him. I got off in time to get changed for my 12:30 p.m. virtual session with my trainer.

I do this most Mondays. He Face Times me and we use the equipment in my house (mostly resistance bands, dumbbells, etc.). We worked out from 12:30-12:58, at which point I had to get off because I had a 1:00 call. Yep it was that kind of day. I didn’t really ever eat lunch. I got a bowl of cereal at some point. Usually I do better than that but…not today.

The 1:00 meeting was a zoom set-up but it was a great group of fellow authors I chat with every month or two, so they didn’t complain about my exercise gear. We talked strategy and such from 1-2:15.

At that point I set up my recording equipment to record four short episodes of Before Breakfast (these scripts were already written last week). This took until 2:45. Then from 2:45-3:15 I organized the files and the line-up and sent this all in.

At 3:15 I said hello to my 11-year-old who had gotten off the bus. Then I did what I call “email triage” until 4:00 — answering stuff to the point where I had let it start building up (this was about last Wednesday).

I quickly posted another previously written Vanderhack, then finally changed out of my exercise clothes (4:15) and did my hair. I was back down to post another Vanderhack from 4:30-4:40. Then I opened my blog and started writing this!

I would normally post in the evening about the day but I’ll be out and about, driving various places. So more on that later. But I wanted to make sure I got started and so I could encourage anyone who is tracking.

In the meantime, I’m a guest on the Hello Monday podcast from LinkedIn this week! Please check that out!
