Hello to everyone participating in the September Reset Time Tracking Challenge! Tracking time on weekends is sometimes a little more challenging than tracking during the week. But I still think it’s worthwhile. When we see what our time generally looks like, we can ask how we’d like to spend it, and hopefully make choices that allow for more relaxation and fun.
Here’s how my weekend is going so far. After hitting publish yesterday I did some admin work (mostly taxes related) until 4:15. I went to go talk with my daughter, who wanted Starbucks. I agreed to go get it, though she was going to have to take over on the childcare front (when our Friday caregiver left at 5) since I also had to go pick up another kid. Anyway, I put in an order, drove to Starbucks around 4:30, got there 4:40 and got the drinks, and then drove to the high school and was there around 4:55. I waited 10 minutes for my 16-year-old while listening to Mozart.
He came out around 5:05 and we zipped off — and got stuck behind an accident on a nearby road. We moved slowly but eventually got around it. Meanwhile I was calling people at the house to make sure the 11-year-old was ready for baseball. I got home with the 16-year-old at 5:22, was driving with the 11-year-old to baseball by 5:24, and because we are so close to the field, we actually got there at 5:28! We weren’t even late!
I then drove home and hung out with the kids who were there. My husband came home a few minutes before 6 and grabbed the 6-year-old to go to a Cub Scout BBQ. I surveyed the two other kids who were home (16-y-o and 14-y-o) about dinner options, and wound up doing pizza for me and the older one (14-year-old elected to make pasta). My pizza was cheese-less but still good. I ate with my son then drove to get the 11-year-old at 6:45. I hung out in the car until he was done, and then we came home. My husband and the little guy also came home around this time as he didn’t like the BBQ offerings at the picnic. Hmm.
Anyway, I worked on my puzzle from 7:15-8 while everyone was just hanging out. Then I read from 8-9 in my room. I got the little guy into a shower after that, and brushed his teeth. Then my husband took over for putting him to bed. I read some more, finishing my book around 10. Then I made the 11-year-old go to bed, which was a bit of a process. I wound up in bed around 10:45. I was tired!
I woke up at least once in the night and was in and out after around 4:30 I think. Then at 7:00 a.m. the dog started barking his head off. Not so thrilled about that. I made myself coffee and read for about 30 minutes (new book). Then my husband started stirring and we got the 6-year-old up and ready for his first flag football practice and game. They left around 8:10 and I got ready to go run. I ran outside from about 8:20-9:15. Then I went up to the weight room set-up and worked out for 15 minutes. Then I showered, dressed, and got organized with a few things.
Around 10:30 I attempted to drive to the “big” library, but there was a local festival nearby and there was zero parking. So that was a little frustrating…I drove back to the local library, dropped my books and found a few I wanted (the selection is not as good at the local one!). Then I went to the grocery store across the street to buy eggs. I was home at 11:30.
My 11-year-old had a playdate going at this point and they wanted mac and cheese. So I made that, and then made my lunch. I worked on my puzzle again until my husband took the 6-year-old to his baseball game at 1:00. Then I took the 11-year-old and his friend out to the pool from about 1:15-2:15. I sat by the side and worked on my book project. They splashed each other a lot which is kind of why I didn’t get in the pool – but the water did look nice. Maybe later today! Anyway, I’m back inside posting this. I hope your weekend is going well! Do you have any adventures planned? I don’t have many this weekend but the work week had several, so this weekend is more of a relaxing one…
