I had the fun experience this morning of drinking my coffee outside and reading the print Wall Street Journal — and getting to read a review of my own book!
The review, “Plenty of hours in the day” (probably behind the paywall there) ran in the print Review section today. Among the highlights — I’m the sort of person who “follows through on her daily goals with the apparent discipline of a Marine.” I am “exuberant about time management” and while interested in cold, hard data, “her approach is gentle and reassuring.” It was mostly positive (though with a bit of an eye-roll moment at the end — I’ve lost track of time plenty of times in life, but that’s partly arranged in a full life through a lot of good systems!) and I am thrilled to see the book get this kind of critical attention. Not many self-help books get that, and I am so grateful to the WSJ for the vote of confidence and the visibility. If you are a subscriber, please check it out!
Some other cool hits this week too. Please check out my Substack Live (+ the subsequent post) at Jeremy Caplan’s Wonder Tools. This was a really fun conversation covering everything from productivity guilt to AI.
Then I chatted with Lisa Canning (probably the only interviewer who could say with a straight face “only five kids” — she has 11) at YouTube and for her podcast. As she put it, you don’t need more hours, you need a bigger vision for your life.
Also this week I was on Reach, a podcast for executive assistants, where we talked about time use, managing our own time and helping other people manage their time.
And if you want to hear me talking about Big Time (if you’re not sick of it by now…) please check out Before Breakfast, where I talked about some of my favorite practical take-aways as this week’s longer episode.
Thanks so much to everyone who has bought the book so far — if you haven’t, please pick up a copy! And if you liked the book, please write a review for one of the book sites (either a retailer like Amazon or Goodreads). This helps other people think the book is worth their time.

Wow! So cool Laura congrats! I don’t subscribe but will try to sneak a look at WSJ when I visit my brother this wknd.
@JGold – thanks! It really was cool to see – I’m honored for sure.
That’s awesome, Laura. Gentle and reassuring is the perfect description. I find your writing very calming (and empowering!).
I just finished reading Big Time as part of my curated plans for a relaxing Mother’s Day. I sent both kids off with the father to run errands and I took to the couch with blankets and hot chocolate and had a delightful time reframing my concept of time for a few hours. So, thanks for that <3
@Elisabeth – love this!
