This weekend was a bit more chill than the last one, which was good, since I was mostly on my own (my husband went to visit his mother over the weekend). My 16-year-old has his license so he drove himself to his various events, including a movie night at school, a Saturday volunteer gig and Sunday scouts. I drove to various other things, including two parkour classes (one Saturday, one Sunday) though I used that time to work. Not terribly efficiently, but sometimes something is a little better than nothing.
In the fun category — I got a massage on Friday. I stopped at the library afterwards and got some books to peruse. I took the four kids who were home to the Melting Pot on Saturday night. It is a parenting milestone to have it not be too stressful to take kids out to eat (particularly solo). I ran Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — all of those times outside because the weather was mostly decent. And when it wasn’t — it was pouring Sunday night — I hung out on the porch with the 11-year-old watching it for a while, and then I went in the hot tub with a few of the kids. I wore my rain coat out there and sat in the rain coat for a while until the rain slowed. A little ridiculous but memorable!
If you’ve been thinking of picking up a copy of Big Time — my new book, which came out last week — check out Bookshop.org. This platform helps support independent book retailers. They’re running a promotion for Big Time — you can get 15 percent off by using the code LOVEBOOKSELLERS. That promotion will run until early June.
In the meantime – there have been a few more podcasts featuring Big Time. For a different sort, check out The Sequoia Breeze, which is aimed at California homeschooling families. If you have suggestions of other shows/newsletters I should target, please let me know.
