Every March for the past few years, Sarah Hart-Unger and I have gone on a podcasting retreat somewhere in Florida. I fly down there, she picks me up, and we drive somewhere to stay for two nights. We record a lot of episodes and figure out topics for the next few months. It’s good to be able to build on each others’ ideas in person. We are mostly a virtual operation, but seeing each other about 4 times a year allows us to get the “best of both worlds” so to speak.
I just got back from this year’s trip. We went to Vero Beach, which is about two hours north of Ft. Lauderdale. It was a good time, from the champagne when we showed up at our hotel to several walks on the beach, to some great meals (I liked the Lemon Tree diner, and our hotel restaurant at Costa D’Este was pretty good too). I got in two sunrise runs along the water. We recorded three episodes plus multiple “intro and Q&A” segments. And we celebrated selling out Best Laid Plans Live (“Planning 2027”) that’s being held in November. Despite expanding the number of slots, we never got to even offer the retreat to the public since so many prior attendees wanted to come back. Maybe we will be able to expand in future years!
Now I am back, but sporting a Vero Beach T-shirt, so the memories live on.
