Welcome, new readers! Plus weekend recap

Welcome to any new readers this morning! I’m the guest on the Mel Robbins podcast today, talking about “How to take control of your time.” Mel and I talk about my nine favorite strategies for having a better relationship with time. I don’t want people to cram more in. I want us to enjoy the hours we have! If you have found me here through the podcast, welcome! I hope you’ll stick around.

The podcast episode was based on my book Tranquility by Tuesday. I have also written several other books on time management, including I Know How She Does It, Off the Clock, Juliet’s School of Possibilities, and 168 Hours.

My next book, Big Time: A Simple Path to Time Abundance, will be out in May. Please check that out! (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Norton’s website)

I host two podcasts: Before Breakfast, which features short tips every morning on taking your day from great to awesome, and Best of Both Worlds. With Sarah Hart-Unger, we talk about combining work and life from the perspective of people who love both.

I also write a Substack newsletter called Vanderhacks, which has more do-life-and-time-better tips. I write a free weekly newsletter that you can subscribe to by filling out your email on the home page here. Thanks for checking all these out!

In the meantime, the snow here in Pennsylvania is not melting at all, and probably won’t this week (maybe a bit on a day where it gets up to 33 degrees…). Apparently Phil, my fellow Pennsylvania resident, saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter, which makes sense, as we will be back down to single digit lows next weekend…

My highlight for this past weekend was going to a Sixers basketball game with my husband. I set a goal for the year (as I did last year) to go to three professional sports events. We got reasonably-priced resale seats right behind the Pelicans’ bench this time, and the Sixers won, so that was great. And we didn’t get stuck in traffic on the way home! Charmed all around. It is really fun to watch basketball up close.

There was an amazing sunset on Saturday.

I did a ton of driving on Sunday (church, two tennis lessons, bringing one kid to meet another and my husband at a parkour lesson so they could go skiing, plus a Boy Scout Court of Honor) but I did manage to work on my puzzle quite a bit. This is a 1000-piece scene of Jane Austen characters. One of my favorite time management tips is to try to fit bits of leisure like this into small bits of time instead of scrolling. It doesn’t always work, but when it does, it’s a lot of fun.

I blog most days so if you’re new here, please check back tomorrow too!
