I just turned in the manuscript of my next book, currently called Big Time. It is not “done” in the sense that it will go through multiple rounds of edits. I don’t even have an official publication date yet! Sometime next spring. But for now a full manuscript exists, and it is out of my hair, which is good. I am looking forward to sharing it with everyone when the time comes.
I’m trying to take a moment before popping into the next thing. Long time readers may recall that Big Time was part of a 2-book deal, so my next contracted book deadline will not be that far in the future. But I will admit I have been thinking…maybe a novella? As a summer project? We shall see. I also need to clean out my office which is in a state of full-on book deadline disaster right now.
Meanwhile, life continues. Tonight will be the first of FOUR end-of-year school band/orchestra/choir concerts (there will also be another jazz band competition + a music recital, but since the three kids taking instrumental lessons are part of the same music school, they will all three be together for that). Yesterday featured an acting showcase at my 5-year-old’s preschool. My little actor was…squirmy. But it was cute!

Yes, I do recall that Big Time was part of a 2-book deal where the 2nd book is about the time after dinner and before going to bed, which is also known as “golden hours”, Ms. Laura Vanderkam.
@Yukun – yep, that’s on the schedule next!
Laura, congrats! It must feel good to have the first major hurdle behind you (and I feel like you enjoy the editing part more than the original writing anyway…or is that just me?).
Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy when the time comes <3
@Elisabeth – thank you! I already did the editing part I really like – that is, when I have a rough draft and go in and make it better. But I’m sure in the next round of edits we’ll make it better still, and I really want to have something great out there in the world.
Simply cannot wait for Big Time!!!
@Molly – aw, thanks! Can’t wait to share it with you.
