Barnes & Noble sale, out-of-office message, losing a tooth

balancing work and family moments

We are mid-way through the week. Yesterday I gave versions of my talk twice, was interviewed once, and interviewed two other people. Lots of talking! I also got to use the Zoom translation option for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was (in that I was able to understand what the people talking to me were saying — hopefully it worked equally well in the other direction).

If anyone is a Barnes & Noble member, and is thinking of pre-ordering Big Time (which would be wonderful!) they are having a big pre-order sale right now. You can get 25 percent off all upcoming titles with the code PREORDER25. Here’s the link to Big Time. I really enjoyed writing this book — I hope you will enjoy reading it.

In big family news…the little guy lost his first tooth! He wriggled it out the other morning and was so excited to put it in the little tooth container. In our family you get a dollar per each year of age when you lose the tooth. So this morning he proudly came to show me his $6. The tooth fairy has had quite a business in this household but she is on her last run of it…

I’m probably not going to be posting much over the next week. It is spring break and I will be out-of-office. But I’m looking forward to posting about lots of adventures when I’m back.

  1. Congrats to the little guy! Our tooth fairy brought Golden Dollars (Sacagawea) but I think we were not consistent in the amount. I don’t think more than $5, if that. And a little note. The notes are now in my top dresser drawer, of course. A couple of times the Tooth Fairy and Santa or the Easter Bunny passed each other in the hall! and the little notes ensure we don’t forget that. Fun times!

    1. @Barb – it is fun! We came up with this rule because I could see, when the first kid started losing teeth, that there were going to be a lot of teeth lost over the years. Having a set rule would ward off complaints about unfairness, and would honor seniority in a way, as the $$ amount would rise with age. Of course, $6 in 2013 has more purchasing power than $6 in 2026 but…oh well.

  2. I went to pre-order Big Time at B&N, thought better of it since I do most of my reading on my kindle app, and when I went to Amazon to pre-order the kindle version found out I already had pre-ordered! I guess you could say I’m really excited! 😆
