Best of Both Worlds podcast: Spring mailbag

When we met up in Florida several weeks ago, Sarah and I recorded a handful of Best of Both Worlds episodes. This week’s mailbag episode is one of them!

We cover lots of topics, including split childcare shifts, how work and productivity have changed since Covid, our thoughts on digital calendar frames, our thoughts on retirement, dealing with kids who have different sleep needs, and how we see the next five years of Best of Both Worlds.

Please give the episode a listen! As always, we welcome ratings and reviews. You can also submit a question for a future mailbag here, or by emailing me at laura at lauravanderkam dot com.

  1. I appreciated the conversation about being an early rising parent with a child who is staying up later and wants to chat before bed. I’m adjusting to this and thought the advice given was helpful for me. One other thing I’ve found is that it helps to get my own stuff in order first. I am more relaxed during that chat if I know that I am ready for bed myself, and less relaxed if I know I still have dishes to do, a bag to pack for morning, need a shower and have a bed covered in laundry to put away!

    1. @K- thanks! Yep, I tend to feel like I’m done with parenting after 9 p.m. but that is often when the kids want to connect so I’m digging deep and making sure I get some time at other points for my things…
