Best of Both Worlds podcast: Happiness, parenting, and dentistry with Toni-Ann Mayembe

I have been spending way too much time in dentists’ chairs lately. On the upside, my teeth no longer hurt! Just part of the magic of modern dentistry.

Sarah and I were thrilled to welcome Dr. Toni-Ann Mayembe to Best of Both Worlds. A Florida-based dentist, she also serves in the Reserves, and hosts a podcast called Real Happy Mom. She talked about managing her own schedule, why dental care is essential, and her top five Sunday tips for preparing for the week ahead.

In the Q&A section, a listener asks about the bond between her toddler and her nanny. This gave me the chance to recount my now 13-year-old’s toddler obsession with my husband, despite my being the parent who was around much, much more. Toddlers are who they are — no need to read much into it.

Please give the episode a listen. And if you haven’t been to the dentist in a while, go make yourself an appointment. As Dr. Mayembe told us, dentists have long been experts in being careful about the spread of infectious diseases. Also, you don’t want to be staring down two root canals or anything like that!

  1. I’m catching up on old episodes and Dr. Mayembe was delightful! I wish I could bring myself to go back to the dentist. . unfortunately my mom had to quarantine for 2 weeks because her hygienist tested positive after her visit! Thankfully mom is fine, but dentist definitely not happening over here again!
