    1. @Rebekah – oh yeah. I have an SUV right now but I cannot imagine getting 4 car seats/booster seats into it. Plus, if back row is in use, there’s no storage space for strollers.

  1. Wow!! Congratulations. Definitely not what I excepted when I checked the blog today. Now I’m doubly impressed that you were running on vacation every day in summer heat.

      1. I agree on the sanity. It’s just that I was so sick when pregnant with the twins that I couldn’t do anything until around 18 weeks and then it wasn’t too long before all I could comfortably do was swimming and pre-natal yoga. The looks I got from the lifeguards were increasingly amusing as I approached delivery. My last swim was 24 hours before the twins arrived. I’m pretty sure I looked like a walrus.

    1. @Carrie – woot! good for you! how are you going to figure out the name thing? I’ve been using up my top choices…

  2. Our second boy was nameless for the first week of his life- boy names are hard! Thank goodness for a girl this last time around. We have had her name picked out for years now.

    Congrats to you!

    1. @Katherine – yeah, with number 2 we basically decided the last two minutes we were in the hospital (I think it was easier to hand in the forms as we were leaving than do it later, so our laziness kicked in…). I had all kinds of girl names picked out for this one.

          1. Mosaic could pass for a creative version of Moses, maybe! But yes, probably shouldn’t name the book Ethan or Christopher or anything.

            Congratulations!

          2. @Jennifer – I kind of like the idea of naming the book Christopher. Books do somewhat take on a life of their own…

  3. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!! I’m really happy for you. Sent you an email too! Hope you’re feeling well. I have some good boy name ideas ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. @Rinna- looking forward to the boy name suggestions! We’re classic types. Into names that someone would have named a kid in 1860, really.

  4. I found out I was 14 weeks along with a baby girl a few weeks ago. I haven’t shared publicly yet (she’s probably coming in January, due Feb 8) because she’s a surprise and I’m still nervous about the pregnancy.

But your post motivates me to share anonymously while I sort it out.

Contractors aren’t eligible for FMLA leave and 12 weeks won’t be enough for bedrest + preemie, so my work future depends on the goodwill of my managers.

    1. @Twin Mom – congratulations! Looks like we’ll be entering the 4-club together! I, too, haven’t shared too widely, but I’m past 20 weeks now and all looks good. I hope all goes well for you too.

  5. Congrats to both of you, Twin Mom and Laura. I didn’t know you were looking for a new name for the book. You’ve got lots to think about. Glad you found new nanny.

  6. Congratulations! I remember the part in 168 Hours when you mention talking about possible baby names – must have been for #2, right? Time flies …

    1. @Chelsea – this could potentially be a blog post. If you look at the top boy names, the top ones are way, way more popular than the top girl names. I think everyone uses those and then they fall off a lot.

  7. Congratulations! I agree boy names are hard – but then again so are girl names. We took 4 weeks to fill in the forms because we couldn’t choose between middle names. (And my older child is already lobbying for another sibling even though the first isn’t even 6 weeks yet. Hell no! )

  8. I am so very excited for you! I love all the awesome cowboy names you have now and cannot wait to hear what this awesome addition will be called. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I’m on the other end of the 4-club. Had a daughter in 1990, and then 3 sons (92, 94, 98). At first, when we were clueless, it was 2 on one, then it was man-to-man, then it was a zone. After all those major adjustments, 4 was a piece of cake. But, get ready for a fun, wild and loooong ride. It’s a blast.

    1. @Sara – looks like you’re about on our schedule – we’re 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015. There is a gap between the 3rd and 4th, which hopefully will be enough to ease some of the issues that happened between #2 and #3 (who are just 24 months apart).

      1. Yes! That gap allowed the oldest to be a great help. Often, I’d let her choose between her chore or helping with her brothers and more than not, she’d choose the later.

  10. Congratulations Laura! I always wanted to have a boy but we’re happy with our two little girls and I’m always amaze by mothers who haul their 4 kids, hauling our girls take a little time for me and that includes dressing them up and chasing them sometimes.

  11. Congratulations!

As a mother of 4, I’m looking forward to your insights into life with 4 kids. ๐Ÿ™‚ Our firstborn was 7 when our youngest was bornโ€”I’m thinking the spacing might be similar?

And boy names are so hard. I’m not sure why they seemed so much tougher than girl names to me, but they absolutely did.

    1. @Anne- no real insights yet, other than chasing after 3 kids while gestating a fourth makes me kind of tired. Yes, that’s our spacing — the oldest will be 4 months shy of his 8th birthday when this one comes. I’m very curious how that dynamic will play out. They’ll be too far apart to play much together, I suppose. The 7-year-old would prefer I gave birth to a 9-year-old sister for him, but that’s kind of out…

      1. I have two kids with almost 7 years between them – 10 and 3 at the moment. They play together heaps! So you never know! ๐Ÿ™‚

And a big congrats to you!!

  12. And I just thought of something – I don’t want it to sound like a promotion but a gift – if you don’t have a photographer in mind for either birth or newborn/family photo session when the baby comes, I would love to give it to you! You have given so much to all of us, and I would be honored to photograph your family/baby! (and I will totally understand if you say ‘no’ too).

    Congrats again!

  13. Congratulations! May I suggest the names Dillon and Jess…My sons! ๐Ÿ™‚ They’ve been great names over the years…My sons are now 31 & 28 — Oh, and they have a sister in between them whose name is Caitlin. She’s 30.The night before each birth, we threw out the names we thought we would use and chose others…only to return to the thrown out names on the baby’s birth! And they were just fine. You’ll come up with something just right — even if it’s after you meet your boy!
