Happy Tuesday everyone! It’s another Best of Both Worlds episode day. This week’s episode is all about personal policies. What do we do the same way or use as our standard operating procedures for life?
We have a long list, from the practical (be at the first stoplight by 7:20 a.m.; don’t walk in lightning; run the dishwasher overnight and empty in the AM) to the philosophical (with causes, people are often as happy to get money as time; at age 8 you are responsible for making your own lunch).
What are your personal policies? In the Q&A we take a question from a listener who finds the unstructured social situation of school pick-up (this is a place where you pick up on foot) very stressful. We provide some tips on pocket phrases and making small talk. I will also note that neither Sarah nor I pick up our kids at the regular school bell each day. We both do drop-off a few days per week, but we aim to work a regular-length workday and then relax with our families after that rather than trying to squeeze everything in. So sharing the pick-up can be an option too.
Please give the episode a listen! And please consider joining our Patreon community, where we discuss topics of work and life in multiple discussion threads each week. Our next Zoom meet-up, on Nov 18, will be a holiday planning workshop. Membership is $9/month.
