When Sarah and I met up in Florida a month ago, we recorded three episodes. This week’s episode — “Ask us anything” — is the last of those.
We cover a wide variety of topics, including how to handle a negative performance review (right before a parental leave…), whether back-up slots increase the chances that people flake, how to manage new family dynamics when in-laws move to town, what lessons SHU and I hope to impart to our kids, working with a childcare provider who is also caring for her own child, and effective ways to reduce kid screen time if you’re willing to put some resources into it.
Please give the episode a listen! It’s so fun to record face to face, so we’re trying to do several of these a year. As always, we appreciate ratings and reviews, and if you have a question you’d like to hear on the podcast, please send it along!
I feel badly for the women who got a not so great review before going out on maternity leave… I feel like it’s hard enough to come back from leave/adjust to being a working mom without adding the pressure of trying to meet higher expectations at work. I think that I would probably look to change jobs if I was her… Or go back knowing that she will look to pivot to a new company. It would probably be hard to move internally because it seems like you are prohibited from moving roles if you’ve had a weaker review.
Great episode!! Thank you for answering my question 🙂
