A bit more tracking (September Reset)

If you’re tracking time as part of the “September Reset” I hope it is going well! Two housekeeping items: If you are signed up for the emails and haven’t seen any, please check junk/spam – even though we just did some authentication stuff with Mailchimp, some are winding up there. Second, if you haven’t, consider clicking to the Online Portal and taking the survey associated with time tracking — the one linked to in Monday’s email. It is helpful to reflect on what you hope to get out of tracking as you’re doing it.

I’m traveling, so probably won’t check in with every day’s time log. But I can report that Tuesday began at 5:30-ish when I heard my husband leave for his early train. I got up, got coffee, and read until my 6:20 alarm. Then I showered and got the kids up at 6:40. I was in the car to get them down to the bus stop at 7:12, dropped them off, and was back in the house by 7:18. I made sure the high schooler got up, then got the little guy situated with a video so I could get some work done. I actually managed to do a fair amount by 8:30 when I stopped to get the 5-year-old ready and then drive him to school. I was home at 9:10. I worked until about 11, at which point I took a break to do some stuff in the yard (including putting back some of the chairs that were out for the cross-country party). I then drove over to Starbucks as I’d promised I’d get my daughter her favorite strawberry acai lemonade refresher. I put gas in my car, then drove home and put her drink in the fridge for her to get later.

I worked from noon to 1, took a short walk outside, then packed up, and chatted with the 18-year-old by phone for a while. Then I was in the car a little after 2 to drive to the airport. I parked (2:45) ridiculously high up in the parking garage, made my way down and through security by 3 pm, then walked to the gate. I bought a Thai burrito at Currito and ate that, then boarded the plane around 3:30. All seemed to be going well for take-off around 4 when suddenly there was a thud.

From what I can tell, a passenger had stood up, fainted, and then slammed his head against the floor. So various folks went to help with that. Fortunately he was eventually able to sit up, and since we were still at the gate, they were able to get him assistance. We wound up leaving around 4:45. As passenger medical emergencies go, this was not bad.

The flight was short — just over an hour. I listened to Beethoven’s 7th symphony, which was my assigned listening for the Beethoven project. What a piece. We landed about 5:50, I was in my uber shortly after 6 and to my hotel and in my room by 6:30 and off to my dinner by 7/7:30. The evening was spent with that and then I was in bed at 11, up at 6:20 and running at 7.

I hope your time tracking is going well! Let me know any observations you have on your time.
