Sarah and I started Best of Both Worlds in August of 2017. So I’m pretty sure this is our ninth time discussing the back-to-school season. When we began, we had fewer kids and they were all much younger. This year my baby is starting kindergarten and my oldest is off to college! I’m actually moving him in this week. It is an exciting time.
In this week’s episode — our annual back-to-school extravaganza — we discuss morning household routines, homework, bedtime routines and, yes, college. Please give the episode a listen, and as always we welcome ratings and reviews.
Love me a good Vander-rant! 😂 And I’m from a part of the world where we are half way through the school year and where everyone brings their own lunch, everyday (Australia) so this episode was purely for entertainment purposes for me. We have school canteens for occasional treats but school lunches aren’t a thing. So clearly the solution to all the insta-mum star shaped watermelon crap is to make everyone bring their lunch, everyday. Parents soon fatigue of anythjng fancy and lunch ends up being a sandwich, a couple of pieces of fruit, some yoghurt, cheese and crackers on repeat for 13 years…!!
@Becca- ooh, I think I will start calling them “Vander-rants” – just like I have my Vanderhacks! I’m not sure why lunches became a “thing” in the American parenting context, but as with much else it becomes an occasion to make people feel guilty.
