I tend to post my content round-ups on Friday, but this week I’m getting a little jump on it. I am thrilled to welcome Kristen, aka The Frugal Girl, to Before Breakfast this week!
On the podcast, she talks about how she decided to pivot in midlife to go to nursing school, and then how she earned a 4.0 while she was there. As a proponent of the “you’re there to make money, not to spend it” philosophy, she also shares how she brought her lunches and dinners for 2 straight years of school and work shifts at a local hospital. You know I love a streak!
She also talks about her blogging career, and how being a content creator has changed over the decade-plus she has been hosting The Frugal Girl. Long-time readers know her blog has one of the most active but nice comments sections on the internet. It’s truly a gem in its own right.
Please give the episode a listen, and then please go start reading The Frugal Girl. I promise it will be a fun addition to your mornings.
I’m a relatively new reader of Kristen’s blog (less than a year?) and can confirm it is a GEM! Cannot wait to go listen to this interview. I’m already predicting it will be the highlight of my day <3
@Elisabeth – I hope it is!! And yes, her blog and the comment section are both gems. I’m so glad they exist.
I’m listening to this episode sitting in my car before going in to work and feel very nostalgic with this show. You and Kristen are two of my favorite women on the Internet and this felt like a visit with old friends! Kristen and I got to meet in person last year when she hosted me in her home. I also went through tremendous changes in the last five years (divorce, leaving a high control religion, healing religious trauma) so it was wonderful to connect in person and share our stories. I haven’t blogged in two years because of all the changes in my life and Kristen recently texted me to say some of HER readers inquired about my well-being. It was so touching. Online relationships can be very real. ☺️ Thanks for the interview!
@Carrie – good to hear from you! Thank you so much – it was so fun to chat with Kristen and I know people loved hearing from her on the show. Yes, online relationships can be real indeed. I hope life is treating you OK these days!
