I have seen thousands of schedules at this point, and while everyone’s life is different, there are some patterns. Weekday evenings, for instance, are hard to use well. Some people are wrangling little kids or plodding through an unpaid second shift. Others feel like they’re on auto-pilot, consuming passive leisure until it’s time to go to bed. We’re all tired after work. It’s hard to be intentional about this time.
So is there a better way? In this week’s episode of Best of Both Worlds, Sarah and I talk about rebranding this time as your “golden hours.” Just as one’s golden years are a time for leisure and family after work, one’s golden hours can also feel meaningful and enjoyable. Not every minute (trust me, I once had three kids age 4 and under…and was often dealing with them by myself in the evening). But maybe more moments than we’re currently experiencing.
We offer suggestions from planning little adventures, to taking a night off, to upgrading leisure time, and making the most of kid time. Please give the episode a listen! As always, we welcome ratings and reviews. They really do help new listeners decide to give us a chance.
