We are just past the halfway point of 2022. So it’s time to do a mid-year check in. How are we doing on our 2022 goals?
In this week’s episode of Best of Both Worlds, Sarah and I discuss which of our goals are done or (for daily habits) are well-established. We look at which are in progress and looking good. We look at which might not happen exactly as intended, and which need to be tabled or abandoned entirely.
If you made 2022 goals, why not use this episode as a nudge to check in on how you are doing? There’s still time to achieve most things if you decide to recommit. Now is also a great time to “let it go,” as the Disney song goes, if something no longer fits with your life. But when we don’t think about our goals, sometimes they don’t happen, not because they couldn’t, but because life gets busy. We all need a check-in from time to time.
In the question section we talk about what we don’t spend money on. I’ll note that my family’s Toyota Sienna minivan just crossed 100,000 miles on our Fourth of July weekend trip. So clearly brand new cars are not on the top of our spending list…
Please give the episode a listen. And let us know what goals are going well, and if any need a ceremonial goodbye!
Laura, for your core don’t forget your glutes! I had hip surgery in 2016 for a labral tear and part of the problem was weak glutes – which will impact your hips/IT band/etc. So many people think of your abs when they think of core, but the glutes/hip area are really important for runners. So bridges, clam shells, fire hydrants, etc.
I really enjoyed the Patreon goal review session. It was helpful to reflect on what went well and what I want to accomplish in the 2nd half. My goals for the 2nd half are more “fun” stuff – I want to get back to going on dates again now that our 4yo is doing better at bedtime. And I really want to do a getaway to Mexico or somewhere tropical like that in December. We haven’t spent a night away from our kids together since our son was born in March 2018!
Laura I am with you on not wanting people to tell me what to do for a workout, however I wanted to put in a plug for meeting with a pelvic floor PT before you start on your ab work. I met with one after my first baby and even though a lot of my issues were in my pelvis/hips she had me work on my abs a lot, but in a totally different way than I ever would have on my own (i.e. no crunches). It was tremendously helpful to me!
Loved this episode! I’ve had some big unexpected change Is year (interstate job opportunity that resulted in a big move), so all my goals need an overhaul. This was the nudge I needed to consider what I want to focus on for the rest of the year. Love SHU’s suggested process, I’m looking forward to applying it.
