Early mornings, summer edition

In my summer fun list yesterday, I talked about getting outside in the mornings. Lo and behold, thinking about that nudged me to actually do it. This morning I was up at 6:20 a.m. with the little guy. Now, let me stress that I’m fine with this; 6:20 a.m. is far more civilized than 4:30 a.m., which is what we were dealing with for a long time. But in any case, it’s still at least an hour before the big kids get up. And the time must be filled with something.

This morning, I let him watch an episode of the Adventures of Chuck and Friends (which I detest) while I made coffee. After forwarding through the middle-of-the-show commercial, I decided to risk showering while he was watching TV. He stayed put! It was a beautiful thing. So by 6:50, I was showered, and the coffee was made. I poured a mug and we went outside.

This was a rather pleasant way to spend the next half hour. He toddled around on his little tricycle, and watched slugs move over the stones, and wrote with chalk. I mostly sat on a chair, drank my coffee, and stared up at the clouds. We only went inside because it became abundantly clear that I needed to change his very low-hanging diaper. After that, I made pancakes, and we got the big kids up. As they were all eating I made myself my new breakfast favorite: sunny-side up eggs cooked on top of parmesan cheese (it crunches up nicely on the frying pan) and spinach. Yum. So not an unpleasant morning at all. Here’s hoping for more warm mornings (and not too early wake-ups).

In other news: My friend Lorie Marrero emailed me yesterday that she’s offering a course on online dating strategies. After the end of her 20+ year marriage, she knew she needed to learn how to get back in the game. She got online in March, and by Christmas was married. That’s fairly efficient. If you’re in the same situation, you can check out her offering and pricing here.

Quick reminder — I don’t do any affiliate sales on the blog. I’m just always happy to pass along news from friends that might be of interest to readers.
